This year’s swim team has 10 returning swimmers, each bringing goals to the season, which opens up today.
“I want to to compete in my butterfly and go to state,” junior Krystal Farthing said.

There are 15 boys and 16 girls on the team and 15 of the 31 swimmers are freshmen, so there is a lot of general training happening this year.
“I want to become faster and just get better at all of the different strokes,” freshman Kaylee Waite said.
Coach Caesie Mchenry has been the coach for five years and went to Trinity University. She leads her team in stretching and they swim an average of 4,000 meters per day, giving her new swimmers a chance to learn and her returning swimmers the chance to improve.
“The difference between between last year sand this year is that I am more devoted to swimming,” Farthing said.
Their first meet is today at the SAISD natatorium.
