The school is holding college financial aid nights to help as students apply for college.

This event helps seniors complete their FAFSA to help pay for college. The nights are Tuesdays from Jan. 20 to March 10.
The financial aid nights last from 4:15 – 6 p.m. but students can get everything done within 25-30 minutes if they have everything they need, including the parents’ and students’ 2014 tax return, W-2 forms, parents’ date of birth and social security numbers, and students’ social security number of permanent resident number, parents’ marital status and date of that status, and documentation of any public benefits received and current bank account balances.
With this information students can find out if they are eligible for a Federal Pell Grant, which has a maximum of $5,730 per year.
On average it costs about $4,000 to go to LakeView College full time for a year, of which $2000 is tuition. Full time tuition and fees alone for a four-year state school like University of Texas at Austin or Texas A&M Universeity is $4500 to $5,000 per semester.
According to Amanda Hasselle with the College Advising Corps, about 65 percent of our students are eligible for Pell Grants.
Senior Nancy Paterson is a student aide in the counseling office and college and career center and gets to find out first-hand about the importance of making college plans.
“I want to major in nursing,” Paterson said. “I want to go to Texas A&M in Corpus Christi and plan on paying for it with financial aid.”
The weekly financial aid nights are in the college and career center.
