The varsity girls soccer team opened their season with a first place victory at the Northside Tournament last week.
“We have a lot talent from students from different schools,” coach Mary Phillips said. “We have a lot of freshmen and seven varsity seniors.”
The team lost some seniors but overall feel strong about their potential.
” [They are] some best people I ever met, we’re not just a team we’re a family,” senior Jeanna Mullen said.
First district game is Feb. 4 against Lee High School, and coach says there’s a lot to do before a district.
“[I’m] hoping we go to the playoffs. We have a lot of talent,” Coach Phillips said “We’re strong team on and off the field, and have a strong group of girls this year. ”
The girls will be gearing up to take on strong soccer teams including Reagan and Johnson.
” With apositive attitude, we are successful,” senior Ximena Briseno said.
The girls will take on Edison tonight at the SAISD sports complex at 7:30 p.m.
