The ultimate day for football has passed, but a lot of people are still talking about it.
On Feb. 1, the Super Bowl played out between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, who had won the Super Bowl against the Denver Broncos last year 43-8. Sadly for them, that wasn’t the case this year.

The Seahawks were in position to score the winning touchdown, but during with 26 seconds left, the team attempted a touchdown pass which Malcolm Butler, the Patriots’ Cornerback, intercepted that turned the game in their favor. Many people speculate that if they had run the ball, they would have won. The Patriots, though, took the title of Champions of Super Bowl XLIX, winning 28-24.
During the halftime, the crowds were amazed by the performances by the popular singer, Katy Perry, ranging from a giant golden tiger to a changing chess board stage. Her songs included ‘Roar,’ ‘Dark Horse,’ ‘I Kissed a Girl,’ and ‘California Gurls.’
Super Bowl XLIX broke the record of the most-watched program in American history, overshadowing the previous Super Bowl, with over 114 million people watching it and then going up to 118.5 million during Katy Perry’s show.
However, there are also some arguments going around. In their game before the Super Bowl, the New England Patriots were reported to have had under-inflated balls, which made them easier to throw and grab. They are now accused by many of cheating and whether it’s actually true or not is still to be proven, which leads many anti-Patriot fans to question whether the team deserved to be champions of the Super Bowl.
