After having one state qualifier last year, the wrestling teams will take to the mats at Austin Bowie this weekend.
“The question is, will our team be consistent in their effort and preparation so that we can reach and live up to that potential. Time will soon tell,” said coach Lee Miller.
They have 17 returning wrestlers including RJ Herrera, Chance Marquez, and Jeff Hooks, many of whom have just finished football.
“The wrestlers have spent a lot of time lifting to get stronger. They have been conditioning to be in good shape and have great endurance, and drilling technique over and over to be technically better than their opponents,” Miller said.
The tournament opens at noon today and continues through tomorrow.
