More than 100 students, faculty and staff donated blood at Student Council’s blood drive Nov. 21. Each pint

donated can help as many as three people.
Senior Khalid Mitchell was one of the students who donated.
“I donated because I want to save lives,” Mitchell said.
Students could sign up in advance to give blood in the band parking lot. Student council worked throughout the day to efficiently get students through the line, donate, and back to class.
“Helping and being there feels good,” junior Angie Hernandez said. “Helping people out and knowing they are saving people’s lives is a great feeling.”
Early estimates indicated 124 units were received. Some students were nervous but went through with it anyway.
“I was really nervous and didn’t want to look at the needle,” senior Robert Medina said. “It tingled for a while but I got over it. I know if I needed it I would hope someone would donate for me.”
