Two students from the debate team are traveling to West Texas A&M University near Amarillo this weekend for a tournament. It is the fourth competition for them this season under new debate coach Jennifer Purcell.

Purcell said students who joined debate this year have one at least one competition each.
Sophomores De’jah Braxton and Isabela Guel are the only two attending the event this weekend.
Braxton said that she finds the class to be very fun and that she has a good teacher.
Purcell started teaching speech and debate this year, and has been pushing her students to work hard to prove their cases.
“Debate isn’t just arguing, it’s arguing with evidence,” Purcell said.
The team competed four students last week at Madison and will compete at Reagan on Nov. 23.
