Roosevelt had students that were commended for their achievement on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. They include Matthew N. Disiena, Luke Danielson, Jeanie Suh, Zachary Vahle, Rachel Singleton, Samantha Valdez.
“I thought it was pretty awesome,” Valdez said “The PSAT was pretty easy, I had took a prep class before the test, I’m not a fan of standardized testing but I still tried my best; had some doubt about the writing part with the grammar.”
Valdez is looking into UTA and University of Chicago for college. The students were honored for their achievement at halftime of the football game against Churchill last month.
“[It was a] pretty good ego boost,” Danielson said. “ I think it was difficult.”
Danielson is looking into UT Arlington, Texas A&M University, and Rice for college.
To receive a commended status, the students had to be in the top 50,000 scorers on the PSAT/NMSQT the previous fall.
