Coming off two losses, the Riders took their homecoming game to victory last week against Lee with a whopping win, 45-17. Since they lost last year’s homecoming game to Madison, this game was an exhilarating win for the Riders.
“It was a good game, it was exciting getting the upper hand the beginning of the game and keeping the momentum through the whole game,” senior quarterback Jacob Preciado said. “Everyone expected us to beat Lee. They [Lee] got better but we had a really good game and executed well.”
Right off the first kickoff, Roosevelt scored the first touchdown within the first 10 seconds of the game.
“It’s always good to get back on the win,” Coach Matt Carroll said. “It’s definitely a step in the right direction.”
One of the varsity football players won Homecoming king: Will Porter.
“I’m proud of Will for winning, he’s growing up,” Preciado said jokingly.
This week the Riders play Madison, the only school that Roosevelt lost to in districts last year.
“The game can either go two ways, we can play as a team and stand a good chance,” Coach Carroll said, “or we can play as individuals and it’ll be tougher.”
Roosevelt vs. Madison is tonight Heroes Stadium @ 7:30 p.m.
