A new school year begins and a new batch of freshmen come in. The first year of high school can be a big change for many.
“I was nervous my first day,’cause it’s a big school, bigger than my middle,” freshman Justin Fierro said.
Freshman administrator Bernice Cantu leads her section of freshmen in the school song.
According to freshman administrator Bryan Norwood, there are about 870 freshmen enrolled this year. That’s a little more than other years, he said, and they will be working directly with him and the other freshman assistant principal, Bernice Cantu, to make the transition as easy as possible. The transition can be positive, with the variety that high school can bring, like more sports, clubs and classes to choose from.
“School wasn’t as bad as I thought, everyone gets along. Joining soccer in high school was pretty much how I pictured it,” freshman Sergio Espinoza said.
