HOSA is hosting a basketball tournament today. For $1 entry, students can get out of their half of 8th period to go play in the gym.
“Help support HOSA for state competition,” junior, Jenny Nguyen, said.
HOSA needs the $1,000 dollars to go to Academic Medical Careers state competition in Galveston, Texas, in April. They currently have only $400. Senior Akheel Cochran had the idea of this basketball game to help with the money HOSA needs to go to state competition.
Going to the game can benefit both students and HOSA, by ending the day before spring break with the opportunity to have fun and play with friends , and helping HOSA go to state competition at the same time. The tickets are are sold during all three lunches, and all grades are welcomed.
As of Wednesday, March 6, there were already 16 teams of 3 that added up for 48 students already signed in.
“I hope everyone comes out [and plays]”, DeborahRamirez, health science teacher and HOSA sponsor, said.
Some students were worried of their grades since this today is going to be the end of the nine weeks.
“I want to go to the basketball game, but I have a biology test that day on eighth period, and I can’t miss it, because it’s the end of the nine weeks,” sophomore Kaithlyn Trujillo said.
