For the past couple of months already, a Shipley Do-Nuts has stood where the the T-Mobile Store on Walzem street used to be. Who would’ve imagined that a world wide cell phone company would be replaced for a family company. Established in 1938, Shipley’s have been around over 76 years in six states about the country including Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee with 250 stores.
Shipley’s Do-Nuts Flour and supply company offers over 60 different variety of Do-Nuts, and pastries that is all produced from the same simple used to make do-nut mix. The most famous one is the Plain Glazed according to employee Hong Scoot. The location, with its drive through window, has with a small space of 1800 to 2200 square feet.
The hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, and on weekends from 7 a.m.to 3 p.m. Employee Mona Roberts says she sees more students as clients since it’s close to the school.
The reason why the store closes at 4 p.m. is because there’s another location on FM 78 road by Wagner and it closes at 8:30 p.m. The location is close to the school because it’s a small shop and they make do-nuts in another location and they send them on the location on Walzem Road.
“I like Shipley’s do-nuts, because they’re not too big or too small, perfect size and they’re soft and tasty,” sophomore Teresa Ojoy said.
Yet they’re not for everyone.
“I don’t like Shipley’s Do-nuts, because I think it’s a waste of calories,” sophomore Huxley Garret said.
