On Nov. 29, Student Council hosted a blood drive in the band parking lot from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The theme for the blood drive was twilight and each donor received a twilight themed T-shirt which read “Blood Donors are Forever.”
The goal this blood drive was to reach a donation of 116 units of blood.
To donate blood students had to be 17 years old 16 or with parental consent, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and have identification.
“It was fun, it took about 15 to 20 minutes,” sophomore Nathaniel Lawton said. “I’ve given blood before, but for blood tests. This is the first time I’ve donated blood.”

In total, 96 units were donated. One thing that persuaded students to donate blood was for Mr. Pruiett’s wife who has cancer. So students were given the option to donate blood on her behalf.
“Give blood, save a life,” student council sponsor Matthew Dodge said.
Dodge was responsible for getting the blood drive organized. This was only the first blood drive of the year, but next semester there will be a couple more.
