Each year for at least four years, the Student Council has made ‘Turkey boxes’ and gives them to the cafeteria staff and custodians. This seven clubs/groups that helped on this project that include PALS, NHS, the Science department, AVID, Student Council, Leo Club, Counseling and Individual teachers. This has been a tradition that allows students to show appreciation for what the custodial and cafeteria workers do. This idea came from the Student Council sponsors, Joanna Strokes (English) and Matt Dodge (Algebra I).
“I hope our reaction from them [is] that they’re excited, feel thought of and

appreciated,” Dodge said.
On Tuesday, Nov. 13, there was a Counseling meeting where the members created the ‘turkey boxes’ and made letters to each of individual member of the Cafeteria Staff and Custodians.
On Wednesday, Nov. 14, all the groups brought their ‘Turkey boxes’, canned/box donations, or monetary donation to RR220. They were each hand decorated.
Each ‘Turkey box’ contains two cans of green beans, one box of stuffing, one can corn or creamed corn, one can yams/sweet potatoes, one can of yams/sweet potatoes, one can mushroom soup, one can pumpkin pie filling, one box mashed potatoes, one packages of powdered gravy, one box of chicken broth, one can of french onion rings, one can cranberry sauce and one package ready-to-serve rolls. Money donations were accepted to help cover the cost of the 10-12 lb. turkey and other items needed for the custodians and cafeteria staff members to have a Thanksgiving dinner.
The ‘Turkey boxes’ were picked up by the cafeteria staff and custodians on Friday during the day.
