It has been five years since the disappearance of Katie and Hunter (characters from “Paranormal Activity 2”), and now a suburban family is beginning to witness strange events in their neighborhood when a woman and a mysterious child move in.
After the first Paranormal Activity launch in theaters Oct. 16 of 2009, the Paranormal horror franchise continues with another movie, “Paranormal Activity 4.” Paranormal Activity 4 is tied to the first two films of the series and takes place five years after “Paranormal Activity 2” where Katie kidnaps her sisters son because she is possessed by a dark force.
Katie (Katie Featherson) is one of the main characters in the first Paranormal Activity, in which a young couple (Micah Sloat and Katie Featherson) are haunted by a supernatural “spirit” in their home. At the end of the movie Katie is possessed and ends up killing micah, the movie ends. Then later in 2010 “Paranormal Activity 2” was released as a sequel to “Paranormal Activity” (launched in 2009) where a supernatural presence is now also haunting Katie’s sister Kristi’s home. The movie ends with Katie who is still possessed (continues from Paranormal Activity 1 ) killing Dan (Kristi’s husband) and taking their son Hunter.
Katie and Hunter return in Paranormal Activity 4, which opened Oct. 18, as more strange events continue to revolve around them. In the end, viewers will be left with more questions as the directors no doubt set up viewers for another film.
Paranormal Activity 4 is directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman who are also known for directing “Paranormal Activity 3” and a documentary “Catfish.” After directing the previous Paranormal activity the directors Joost and Schulman learned a few tips and tricks like using different equipment like a laptop camera and surprising the xbox kinect which will play a major roll in the movie by using tracking dots, a special feature the xbox kinect provides.
Paranormal Activity 4 is rated R for language and terror scenes.
