Mr. Melvin Echard, Mr. Bryan Norwood, and Ms. Lori Murach are the new administrators this year. Ms.Michelle Howard is the new head counselor to Roosevelt, and serves as the counselor of AVID. Echard, our new principal who came from Johnson High School, is now returning back to Roosevelt.
“I love Roosevelt, I’m glad to be back,” Echard said.Echard was the Assistant Principal here back in 2002-2006. He said he likes the challenge of making the school a better place for the students, staff, and community.

Murach is the new Assistant Principal with the alpha Moo-Rud. She has worked for NEISD for 19 years, including the opening of Reagan High School. She said she is enjoying her time here already.

“I love the campus, the staff, students and the organization,” Murach said.
Ms. Michelle Howard is a new counselor at Roosevelt she’s also the new counselor for AVID. Coming from Churchill High School of 8 years as a counselor there, she has a total of 13 years of counseling under her belt.
“I just love the school and kids and how grateful they are,” Howard said.

There’s also 27 new teachers at who start this new school year, including two new teachers for the magnet schools, DATA and ETA, and some teachers who teach multi-year courses, such as AVID, choir and journalism. This can be a new challenge for all students specially sophomores, juniors and seniors, because they have to known their old teachers over the past years.

“My new AVID teacher, Mr.Stewart, teaches us differently and new things than my old teacher, Mr.Lopez, but that’s good because we can learn better that way”, Junior, Khyara Johnson, said.
Two coaches also started including volleyball and cheer. Other staff members include science, social studies, engineering for ETA, math, algebra 1 and engineering for DATA, English, and foreign languages for chinese and spanish.
“It is awesome having the chance to work with students throughout their high school career, you get to see students develop as individuals. There is a lot of work to make sure everything is being adressed, but it is thus for the most rewarding job I have had”, new AVID teacher Brock Stewart, said.

Being a new teacher may require a lot of time, but as Stewart says, also rewarding to meet new students and have them interested to their area of teaching. New to the school, these teachers may be surprised just as freshmen are at how big this campus is.
“It’s exciting being a new teacher at Roosevelt High School, because I have great kids and they’re having a great time,” new aquatic science teacher Liesa Byler said. “I’m also glad to be here to walk around this big campus.”
