High school provides our final moments as kids. In these four years, there is an immense amount of growth. Not everyone can accept it, though.
Freshman Jasmine Perez is kind of afraid to grow up and leave the nest. “I like the thought of moving away from your parents house and being able to do whatever you want, but there’s a lot of responsibility put on your shoulders. You have to get a job and pay bills. You can’t just lay around and let someone take care of you anymore. It’s scary,” Perez said.
She added, “But I’ve still got four more years. More if I stay with my parents through college. All I know is that I don’t have to worry about it right now.”
Freshman Lauren Rouse said that she’s not afraid to leave home when the time is right.
“Sure, I’ll be on my own and I’ll have to do everything by myself, but that’s the goal. I want to be able to take care of myself without my mom or day. Even if I struggle, at least I’d be able to do it,” Rouse said.
Sophomore Jeffrey Lubin also looks at the world without fear.
“I’m so ready to get out there. I’d be able to take care of myself easy with a little apartment and some job. I’d be good and eventually build up some money to get better things,” Lubin said.
Even if you’re not ready yet, or way too prepared, you have a few years unless you’re a senior to ready yourself for the big bad world out there.
