Some Ninth Graders Stressing Over Testing Changes

Students used to stress over taking TAKs and now those feelings are directed towards end-of-course exams. Although the test-taking experience will always be stressful for some, preparation is the key to success.
Currently, Roosevelt High School offers tutoring after school for all EOCs as well as other tests. Still, those students that care and want to do well will still stress a bit in part because the newer tests are more challenging. Most students care but are not in panic mode over the EOCs, while others have other things on their mind.
“I don’t care about it cause I know I’m going to do really good on EOCs,” Diego Chivera, freshman, said.
Other students are worried about their academic future beyond high school.
“I don’t want to fail because of EOCs. I want to go to college,” Boyd Spaulding, freshman, said.
But mainly they want to pass to have a good summer.
“I want to have a good summer and not stress about not passing,” Jennifer Roberts, freshman, said.
Even teachers are biting their finger nails a little over the new testing policy and want their students to pass them all.
