How Pets Can Make Students’ Lives Better

After a long day of school, students come home only to find a furry friend waiting to be with their owner again and have time with them. Most people count on their pets to cheer them up after a school day.
High school students almost always load homework and some are happy to go home to find their pets waiting. Being able to play with pets, can help people take their mind off the stresses of the day and help them relax a little before doing homework.
Once I’m home, I like seeing that my dogs follow me around,” Mia Badillo, D.A.T.A. freshman, said. “It makes me feel important for some reason, but it always lets me know that they love me.”
Pets, whether dogs or cats, love their owners. They always show their owners that they want to be with them and want to have fun. Sometimes, it takes a lot to take care of these pets, but many feel they’re worth the effort.
“I love my cats. They do ridiculously funny things and they’re fun to pet,” Glynnis Flaum, D.A.T.A. freshman, said. “But, there’s so much fur to clean up and one of my cats has a tendency to take my things that I leave out.”
Having a pet is a responsiblity according to most owners. Cleaning up after them, buying their food, and anything that they need to be healthy are important – and not everyone likes it.
“It costs a lot of money to feed them, but I love my pets no matter what,” Jasmin Kale, freshman, said.
It’s all about pet love. Even though they put their owners through a lot, love is found in the end.
“One of my dogs was really sick and made a mess all over my bed. But I always remember when I first bought him,” Joshua Matic, D.A.T.A. freshman, said. “He didn’t bark as much.”
Students go through bad and good times with their pets, but as an owner, they love their pets.
“Potty training all my dogs was the worst. They were like automatic sprinklers. There was mess everywhere and cleaning it up really sucked,” Badillo said.
Training pets isn’t easy, but it has to be done. It’s part of having a good life with a pet.
“Having a pet is pretty great because I can play with them when I’m bored and have them there for me to keep me company,” Matic said.
With a pet around, expect to have good and bad times. Time to clean up after and love them.
