High school teachers don’t normally allow iPods or iPhones, or any electronics in class unless they have educational merit. Despite such restrictions, some students still use them to complete assignments, for entertainment purposes, or communication.
There is much debate as to the educational value of such devices in classrooms. Naturally, students in large numbers support the idea of allowing them.
“I like my iPhone so much, it can do almost anything with all the applications. I take it everywhere because it becomes so convienient and usefull in school,” Ruby Madison, junior, said.
Students like to do a lot of different things with their iPhones.
“I text, listen to music, and go on Facebook.com alot,” Madison said.
Teachers are mixed on how they feel about the educational value of them.
“I usually don’t mind if student electronics are out unless it distracts students from my teaching too much, or is very loud,” Vincent Clark, World History teacher, said.
Clark added that he also owns an iPhone and enjoys it because it is useful for work and makes life in general easier.
