Roosevelt basketball is a sport at this campus that has had alot of talent, but has gone through growing pains in past years. This year, the boys and girls on the hardcourt are turning the schools fortunes around in a positive way.
Roosevelt boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are winning games regularly, the boys’ team had a notable win against the Madison Mavericks several weeks ago at Littleton Gym. The boys are 3-1 and the girls are 2-4. Don’t let that 2-4 record fool you though, the Lady Riders have played the two toughest teams in district (Churchill Lady Chargers and Johnson Lady Jaguars). The boys’ basketball team has been the most underated team and lost their first game on Tuesday night in a tough excited back and forth contest that took the last shot to decide the winner.
“We are playing some great basketball right now, we lost a tough game last Tuesday, but we will adjust and will get next game,” Bo Serros, said.
The girls’ basketball team is putting in work in practice and and ready to go back to being the top 10 team they were in the beginning of the season. The girls are a young team that can make the playoffs. They just need to take it one game at a time and they will succeed. “The girls are working hard, we will get back on track.” Edda Pavon, said.
Roosevelt basketball is exciting and everyone should go and support the Rough Riders as they continue their season. With more people in the crowd and a louder atmosphere, Roosevelt basketballers can use the noise as an advantage to win and get excited.
“We will make the playoffs, if we keep up the hardwork in practice and the great play in the games,” Serros, said.
