The PSAT/NMSQT is the best preparation for the SAT according to counselors. This test will be free for all juniors and sophomores to take at Roosevelt High School on Oct. 12 at 8:45 a.m. Students can visit the school office for exact testing locations.
Students who take the test as juniors have an opportunity to enter the National Merit Scholarship Corporation program for advancing high school students into collegiate level education.
All students who take this test will get an official score report in areas such as critical reading, mathematics, and writing skills and will see how their scores compare with those scores of students across the United States.
Students who take the test will receive free access to My College QuickStart, an online college and career planning tool that contains an online PSAT/NMSQT Score Report, a customized My SAT Study Plan, a personality test, and personalized lists of colleges, majors and careers. For more information, visit www.collegeboard.org/quickstart.
It is beneficial for students to take the test as early as possible, more than half of all test takers last year were sophomores or younger.
Other special opportunities for students who take the test in 11th grade include the National Hispanic Recognition Program. For more information on this and other related programs, see your school’s counselor or visit www.collegeboard.org.
