Most Students Agree Comfort Is Most Important To Style

Some students care about keeping up with fashion trends and others who are running late and fear missing the bus, just want to make it to school on time in the mornings. Being fashionable and attending school may not be mutually exclusive, but they’re not mutually inclusive either according to students around campus.
Walking around school, one can see that some students strive purposely to show their identity through their choice of clothing.
“When it comes to people into science, it’s usually button-ups or t-shirts and a pair of jeans. In D.A.T.A., it’s different because of different cultures. My friend Helena is really artistic and she wears really interesting clothes. But a lot of people wear gaming shirts or stuff with logos,” Carlos Valdes, senior, said.
Valdes believes that students should be more creative with what they wear and not generic.
Most would agree that there is nothing wrong with dressing for comfort over style. Students that choose to wear stilletto heeled footwear may find that a few flights of stairs in Rough Rider Hall, the D.A.T.A. building or Saber Hall are going to kill that look.
“I don’t care the slightest bit about fashion. There’s too much (pants) sagging,” Evan Harris, senior, said.
Harris went on to say that students should wear clothes that will make them look respectable.
Senior Alyssa Henry thinks that most students “dress boring or just comfortable”. However, Henry has seen some evidence of students on campus trying to stand out.
“That guy who always wears the old-school punk stuff and that girl you see leading fashion with the long jean skirt. They don’t mind taking fashion risks,” Henry said.
Looking around Roosevelt High School, the various styles of fashion that students choose to wear is fascinating to those who like to critique what people put on each morning.
Some students opt to send a message with their clothing, while others simply don’t care what others think. A group of students will go for the vintage look of the past while others prefer to stay on the cutting edge of fashion with clothes that are modern.
Even some students will say that they pulled their (clothing) right off the floor. Which is cool in most people’s eyes because we all have had those type of mornings when the rush of getting to school trumps everything else.
