With an upcoming meet for the Roosevelt Cross country team this Saturday at Brandeis High School, the cross country runners feel very confident in what they are doing.
This Saturday’s meet will have both boys and girls competing. Runners such as, Alma Bello, Melissa Herrera, Jesse Reyna, Holly Adams, Abdi Abdi, Jascinto Emilio and Gideon Johnson will try to reach the finish line first. Coach Corey Vedell has a lot of faith in his whole team.
“This season has been going well, we have come a long way, hopefully we get better this week, but I’m sure we can do it because with these runners, it’s hard for me to be excited at 6:45 in the morning, but my runners come in to practice ready to koll the track, it is most definetly the best year team, it’s the largest too, with over 60 members, we will mos definetly go far that year.” Vedell, said.
Not only does Coach Vedell have faith in the team but the runners have faith in themselves as well.
“I believe we have strong runners who can get the job done, this season we will finish strong.” Brian Cruz, senior, said.
Along with Cruz, Abdi has faith in the team and is proud to be a Rough Rider.
“I’m proud to be in cross country and I feel great about it,” Abdi Abdi, junior, said.
With Roosevelt cross country, a 30 minute run around campus is a daily routine. These Rough Riders are really giving it their all this year, making their coach and supporters proud, and the team is maintaining a positive attitude to make it to the top.
