Most students at Roosevelt High School would agree that our campus has some unique new students this school year. Some might argue that a few freshmen standout a little more than their upperclassmen counterparts.
Sierra Belmares, is one example of such a freshman student that stands out and is not afraid to make a statement with a colorful personality. In fact, she isn’t afraid to talk to anyone who may approach her. People who know Belmares would tell you she is extremely nice and easy to conversate with.
She might be best described as one of those people that truly draw attention once they enter the scene or in this case a classroom.
“I love to Cat Daddy. My two favorite foods at the moment are Oreo cookies and Cantalope,” Belmares said.
The “Cat Daddy” is an urban dance made popular by modern day hiphop artists. Belmares loves to play around and dance and when it comes to academics and hitting the books hard, she stays on top of things, excelling in all her classes.
Even with an electric personality, Belmares will be the first to tell you that she has her struggles as well. She likes to do extracurricular activities, but also wants time for friends and family, and of course a little bit of self time too.
“The hardest thing for me as a student is being involved in things. I deal with it by having a certain schedule that I be sure to follow,” Belmares said.
In conclusion, not all freshman have trouble adjusting. Belmares has adjusted well even with a few obstacles here and there and definitely wants to make the most of everything during her four years at Roosevelt.
