Despite all the encouragement and education out there to be kind to the environment, everybody it seems litters. No big deal right? It will be for people in the future who are left to deal with our current mess-making. People litter when they could be throwing away their trash. But what’s worse now is, people throw away recyclables.
“People should have enough sense to recycle. Even without a bin in their house, save the cans for a public one,” Cameron Guiner, junior said.
Go green is a popular slogan used to help remind people how important their daily decisions are to the preservation of our world.
“Honestly, I litter all the time. It goes to the soil after a while anyway. But we really should begin recycling. Hello, global warming,” Ruth Hafez, freshman, said.
Hafez has concerns about global warming that many students share in this day and age. Some students are very critical of others who don’t bother to do away with their trash the right way, and express their frustrations very openly.
“America’s always been a throw-away society. We can’t do much now, but yeah I guess if people really care, they can recycle. Only slobs (lazy people) litter,” Brooke Martinez, senior, said.
Perhaps, we do need to learn to throw away our trash more often and use the recycle bins as well. It’s important to do this not just because it’s good for the Earth, but it feels good being clean. Be resourceful and “Go Green” when it’s appropriate to do so.
