This generation of young people like many before are full of insecurities about various things including clothes, their bodies, hair, make-up, fitting in, to just wanting to be someone special someday. Teenagers go through enough, and insecurities just make it worse.
“Looks are the biggest insecurity. Most teens feel they don’t look good and try really hard to fit into the latest trends,” Sara McCardless, freshman, said.
Maybe deep down, teenagers are self-concious with a tough exterior.
Sophomore Priscella Pereida agreed with McCardless that they way teens look is the biggest insecurity.
“Appearance is important because teens just want to fit in with their friends,” Pereida said.
Ever think that fitting in is a little overrated? Some teenagers seems to think that it is and that people need to just stay true to their personality and not worry so much about what others think. There is a stereotype that thin is perfect among many teens.
“Weight is the biggest insecurity, most definitely in my opinion. This is because some people are insecure when surrounded by friends that are skinnier than them. No one wants to feel like the odd one out,” Ruth Hafez, freshman, said.
Basically, looks are and continue to be everything for most members of this generation at the moment. But maybe people should be able to say,”I am perfect the way I am.” or “I don’t care what people think.” After saying those words, they should mean every bit of it. Everyone’s different and deserves to be proud of who they are.
