School is where you get your education and where you need to get good grades in order to attend a good college in the future. Attending school is a struggle for some students that lack motivation or willpower, and don’t realize how costly it is not to attend. A lot of people complain about going and don’t go, but you need to do that to get ahead in life.
A lot of students at Roosevelt know the importance of making that consistent effort to be in your classes. This is a point of view shared by other high school students across the San Antonio area.
“I love coming to school. I’m an “A” student and it’s really hard for me to maintain that average, but I do it because I want to go to a good college someday,” Ashley Perez, Churchill High School sophomore, said.
On the other hand, some people don’t like coming to school at all. They don’t care about it or what they want to do with their life. That’s why they skip classes and get up in the morning when they feel like it.
Domonika Hernandez, a sophomore at Southwest High School believes that most students that don’t come to school usually don’t attend because they have big problems at home and in their personal lives that prevent them from focusing on academics.
“I wish I could help everyone and just talk them into going to school, and to not be a quitter,” Hernandez said.
Hernandez added that everyone has their reasons, but that some students use dumb excuses not to go to school and make their lives better.
Holmes High School sophomore Jasmine Martinez thinks students should go to school and give it their best effort despite any struggles they might have with Math, Science, Social Studies, English-Language Arts, or elective classes.
“People who go to school and have bad grades might struggle a little in life but not near as much as those that don’t attend at all. Personally, I like the fact that some students that don’t do well in school still make the effort to be in class. They don’t give up,” Martinez said.
