Hernandez comes to teaching after military career

Gilberto Hernandez, or as we all know him, Mr. Hernandez, is a Geometry teacher. He is a man who served for America and now works for NEISD.

Hernandez grew up in Mexico and lived there for five years.

“I grew up poor but I did not feel it,” Hernandez said. “We had enough to sustain ourselves.”

Hernandez then came to College Station, Texas, which is known for its university Texas A&M. 

In 1996, Hernandez graduated from A&M Consolidated High School. Once he graduated high school, he went to Texas A&M. He got a degree in history.

Hernandez also went into the military; he was a Marine. He did 10 years of active duty and 2 years reserved. Due to all the bouncing & carrying of a 70 pound backpack, Hernandez developed a neck condition.Due to his neck condition, he is 50 percent disabled by the force. After the Marines, Hernandez started to teach in 2014. He now serves as a teacher.

Hernandez loves to teach because he loves to see process onto his students.

“Mr. Hernandez is chill,” local student Nathan Guerra says. “I’d prefer him out of all the other geometry teachers.”
