Obesity has increased in the United States due to many teenagers and people in general not exercising and fast food restaurants being over populated. People seem to be content with getting their food the easy way without cooking for themselves.
Roosevelt students have many opinions on things people can do to decrease obesity. One suggestion is to always be on a diet, but that is not realistic to most people out there with busy schedules and that enjoy food.
“I think they should lower the number of fast food restaurants so people won’t go as often,” Jiovanni Garcia, junior, said.
Lowering the amount of fast food restaurants will decrease the problem, but would probably not eliminate it altogether.
“Some people just have different metabolisms that make them fat no matter what,” Jayme Rivera, junior, said.
A person’s metabolism rate is the rate in which they digest food at a given time. Some people digest food extremely fast making them thinner, while others have a slow rate leading to fat buildup.
Not everyone is the same, but everyone can adjust and change the way they eat to live a healthy long life.
Teenagers especially can take out a lot of the foods with fats out of their diet, but leave the foods that don’t make you fat such as fruits and vegetables. Some people can’t help their metabolism rate, but they can still make positive changes to make their life better overall.
