Four individual students are heading to regionals for a variety of events. After putting in a lot of work into practice, these athletes can say that they are proud of their work.

Having nearly broken a record at district, Kiana Gasque placed in two different events at area, qualifying her for regionals.
Sophomore Rashod Owens placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 43 ft and 8 3/4 inches.
“I feel very confident and prepared [for regionals] because this is another chance for me to go to state.” Owens said.
Freshman Moise Fokomla placed third in long jump with a distance of 22ft and 7 inches.
“I feel like I’ve been doing good because I’ve improved since last year.” said Moise Fokomla, a freshman. “Last year, I couldn’t make it to regionals because I got injured so I fell short, but this year I have a chance and I’m pretty proud of that.”
Nazzio Jack-John, a freshman, set two records and was named Express News Athlete of the Week, and he placed 1st in both the 100 and 200 m with times of 10.9 s and 21.53 s respectively.
“I feel like I’ve done really good for being a freshman, and I know that if I can run my hardest, I’ll make it to state.” said Nazzio. “When it really comes down to it, I work on my speed so I can maintain and relax so I don’t fall short and lose the race.”
