Ms. Heather Farmer was presented with an award by the PTA for her teaching.
Ms. Farmer is the Instructional Dean of English at Roosevelt High School. She also teaches AP, GT, Dual Credit, and regular English IV, literature.
It was an unsuspected surprise for her. As they were having their faculty meeting, she was grading papers when it was announced.
Mrs. Duncan was the person to presented this award .
“I was completely shocked,” Farmer, English teacher, said.
Ms. Farmer was pleased in getting this award, but she was appalled to hear that the faculty had known about this for quit some time.
“Ms. Farmer has taught me that if I get my work done on time that there is still time to revise it. She taught me not to procrastinate,” Stephan Vaneau, senior, said.
Ms. Farmer has been getting her students ready for the AP Literature and Composition test that is coming up on May 5. This has not stopped her from reaching out to her students on a personal level.
“She is a really good teacher. You learn more than just English. She teaches philosophies from behind the book , and keeps it interesting,” Travis Lamb, senior, said .
She has helped students in literature as well as in life, and has now received a reward for all of her hard work.
