Many people in the world follow the guy asks girl out rule. Though this may be, some guys believe that girls should step up their game and do the asking in opposite gender relationships.
For the longest time, its been guys who have all the work of making the first move in dating and building potential relationships. They would ask the shotgun loaded father for his daughter’s companionship and hand in marriage.
Also throughout the history of courting, princes would fight dragons on their way to the castle to save the damsels in distress, and sweat potentially more in seeking their love. Even worse, guys have had to cue shivers of nervousness in asking out the girl. Talk about nerve-wrecking.
“I think girls should ask guys out. Think about it. How much easier would it be? It’s always scary. They need to know how it feels,” Marcus Swanson, sophomore said.
Who can blame Swanson for such a reaction? A guy always seems to stick his neck out for either acceptance or rejection in starting a relationship. Even so, it might even be a little “manly” to do so.
“Guys should ask girls out because it would make a guy look like a girl, if he didn’t (ask her out),” Kevin Roldon, sophomore, said.
Adding to the masculinity might be a cause for all of this. There have been beliefs that the guy should be the stronghold in the relationship. Though this may be, many would rather see equality in all areas including sparking love.
“I guess it really depends on the girl, but usually it should just be equal,” Sammie Valdez, freshmen, said.
In a relationship it’s considered healthy to have equality by both partners.
Maybe girls mixing up the game and taking the initiative might be a good idea to some people, but many views are mixed. Whether you’re figuring for equality or a certain gender having reign, the playing field looks the same.
I guess time will tell if we are truly equal in all areas of life.
