Roosevelt Goes Mad at Homecoming
Students danced the night away at this years homecoming dance. There were plenty of people music and food for everyone to enjoy.
“I had a great time at homecoming. I loved hanging out with my friends and dancing with my girlfriend,” Zachary Lawhon, junior, said.
This years theme, Alice in Wonderland, was a major turn around from last years Rock N’ Roll theme. Instead of records hanging from the ceiling and guitars plastering the walls, there was the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, and the Caterpillar blowing smoke onto the dance floor.
“I thought the decorations were really good. My favorite decorations were the caterpillar and the rabbit hole,” Richard Rodriguez, sophomore, said.
A major change from the previous homecoming years was the location. Before the dances have been held at Blossom Athletic Center, but this year, due to scheduling conflicts, it was held in the cafeteria. This change caused some students to worry about overcrowding.
“I was kind of scared that there wouldn’t be enough room, but I hoped they would open up the court yard because it’s beautiful at night, ” Ashleigh Jones, senior, said.
Luckily, for students, the staff was prepared and did in fact open the court yard and outside lunch area to give students more room.
“I’m glad they opened up the court yard because it gave everyone a place to walk around and go get food,” Jacob Garcia, junior, said.
With only miner flaws, such as running out of cups, the 2010 homecoming was a success. Students enjoyed the night to the fullest and are still talking about it after. For seniors, this is a major memory that they will cherish for years to come. Now comes the joy of anticipating next years theme and hope that it will be as grand as this years.
