Roosevelt High School teachers and administrators would like to see students wearing campus identification badges everywhere they go on school grounds. Whether it’s going to the restroom during class time, making their way to the cafeteria, or walking through the hallways.
According to them, students need to wear their IDs and have them visible at all times so students can be recognized, and no one off-campus will be able to come to Roosevelt to cause any problems.
MacArthur High School, also in the Northeast Independent School District, and other schools in the San Antonio area require their students to wear them.
“I think this new rule would be good and bad at the same time because you need to recognize people on our campus, but then nobody likes wearing them,” Victor Silva, sophomore, said.
A lot of people think that a better and more recognized campus should wear IDs no matter what the case may be. It’s a matter of safety for everyone they claim.
“I don’t like the rule of wearing student IDs because I think it’s weird to wear them all the time,” Alison Rebles, freshman, said.
Wearing your ID all the time might be a hassel, but if you want to go somewhere around school, you need your ID visible.
“I kind of like the idea of having your ID because it feels safer,” Freddy Wilken, freshmen, said.
Walking down the hallway knowing everyone is wearing an ID feels more safe and you don’t want Roosevelt to not have that feeling because of random people coming on our campus.
