Everyone knows that dog is man’s best friend.

They are very helpful and smart animals, which according to Harvard Health Publications, they can help you live longer. A dog will never leave you and will always be by your side no matter what happens. While you care your dog, your dog will care for you.
“I feel like I can talk to my dog whenever I have problems,” junior, Gabriela Alfaro said. “Because I feel like he’s the only one that’s there for me when things happen. He’s also there for comfort.”
Dogs can also make you feel happier when you are feeling down.

Dogs are not only pets, but also help the people in need as Service Dogs. Service dogs help the people with disabilities, for instance, seizures, vision problems, diabetes, hearing disabilities, cancer, depression and many other medical issues.
Sophomore Kira Reyna has had her dog Bella for the last three years.
“She’s really energetic and hyper and runs around in circles a lot,” Reyna said.

People come to have dogs in different ways, but many are given away or adopted.
Marybeth Parker, Pre-AP Physics and Physics teacher, has two dogs.
“A little girl was giving away puppies and my littlest boy was wanting a puppy so we got her and he named her April,” Parker said.
April is a chihuahua dachshund mix that she has had for three years.
There are an estimated 70 to 80 million dogs in the United States and approximately 2.7 million of those dogs are homeless. There are around 215 animal shelters all across Texas.
Dogs are abused every year; you can help save those dogs lives by adopting.
