On Aug. 28, 1963 Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his 17 minute speech entitled “I Have A Dream”. Roosevelt can still identify with King’s vision and have dreams of their own to become something great or contribute to society in some awesome way. Whether it’s for yourself, school, the community or the world around us. What dreams do Rough Riders have about their future?
That famous speech, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the civil rights march on Washington D.C. for equality and freedom, was a definitive moment for our nation. According a poll of scholars in 1990, it was ranked the top speech in American history. Dreams are big and small, and there are many dreams and goals out there.
“I want to go to college to study plants as a botonist. I would like to make a lot of money,” Pedro Martinez, sophomore, said.
As some people think and are focused on college, others are focused on traveling to the moon.
“I have a dream to space travel and go to the moon and touch the stars,” Teresita Mejia, freshmen, said.
While Mejia wants to go to space, another student is among those many that want to have lots of cash in their future. As to quote a popular modern song, this student sees millions awaiting.
“I have a dream to be a millionaire so freakin’ bad,” Jayme Rivera, senior, said.
There are really a lot of dreams out there. Some big and some small, but they can all be achieved with hard work and determination. After all, this is the Rough Riders home right? We believe in ourselves and others abilities to go far in life.
