As economy problems increase in America some stores start to go out of business. One sign of this economic decline is the fact that this year of 2011 won’t bring us as many retail stores to choose from.
Wal-Mart being the largest retail store in the world has put several other retailers out of business. Latest retail stores with already 17.6 percent to 100 percent of their stores closed are A.J. Wright, F.Y.E., Blockbuster, Quizno’s, Border’s, Liz Claiborne, and several other stores around the country.
With so many companies going out of business a number of our community has to find a new store in their area that holds the same type of clothes for a price not so outrageous as some stores. You won’t have to worry about losing some retailers like Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy and such leaving anytime soon, though.
“To me it’s disappointing that these stores are closing. To me specifically means I have to find a new bookstore to go to. Also, in my opinion, it stinks how people are going to lose their jobs, and even more people are going to have to change where they shop which also stinks,” Max Tesalona, freshman, said.
Border’s is also having trouble dealing with the payments to distribters and publishers. After shutting down approximately 200 store around the country in 2010. With Amazon and other bookstores such as Barnes N Noble, Border’s has more trouble getting new shoppers.
“I’m okay with it. I usually don’t shop that much and get my clothes at cheaper stores. So it doesn’t matter that much to me, plus there are always other places to shop at,” Victoria Dia, MacArthur High School freshman, said.
Start rethinking where you shop for 2011. More stores than you think will be shutting down. Several stores are still on the listt to be sht down. Start thinking about a larger retail store, it will more than likely stay longer than some others.
