Negan is officially here and officially insane and super duper charismatic oddly enough. With the new addition to the Walking Dead Universe, Rick Grimes and his group’s world just got a whole lot bigger and a whole lot more dangerous. Spoilers ahead. If anybody saw episode 15 “East,” they saw that at the end of the episode, Daryl, Rosita, Glenn and Michonne were captured by the saviors and Daryl was shot, so we all had to wait another week to find out the fate of Daryl and the rest of the captives, well Daryl is alive! The season finale’s plot was that following episode 15, after Enid cut Maggie’s hair, there was an issue with Maggie’s stomach showing that the baby is probably on its way, so in the finale, Rick and others take Maggie into an RV to try and get her to the Hilltop to find a doctor that can help her because she isn’t just in labor, but she has a high fever.
On the way, Rick and his group find trouble at every turn. Every road they take, more and more of The Saviors are waiting in front of them to block their path. The first group consisted of about 20 Saviors including a special Savior played by Steven Ogg (who also played as Trevor Philips in Grand Theft Auto V) who is the main person to confront Ricks group. With no road to go through, they take Maggie through a forest to try and walk their way to the Hilltop, but they don’t find the Hilltop and Rick’s group goes through something that changes their lives forever. After walking and having less then two miles left to get to Hilltop, the signature whistle the Saviors made is heard by Rick’s group, so Rick starts running with his group and they end up in front of every single Savior, who get Rick’s whole group down on their knees, including Rosita, Daryl, Glenn and Michonne. After telling Rick’s group that they are not in charge, they introduce the one and only leader of the Savior’s, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
Negan walks out with his barbed wire wrapped baseball bat which he calls Lucille, and gives Rick’s group a lecture, and teaches them a lesson. Fans of the comic book know that the first confrontation Negan has with Rick and his group, ends in someone getting their face bashed in by Lucille, and the most sinister game of eeny meeny miney mo. Well fans, look no further, Negan does play his game of eeny meeny miney mo, and does bash someones face in with Lucille accompanied by the comic book line “taking it like a champ!” In the comic, the person on the receiving end of Lucille was Glenn, in the show though, it was not shown who it was. All that you saw, was the first person point of view of whoever Negan beat, then the screen cuts to black. This 90 – minute season finale was the darkest one the show has ever had. Cast members didn’t even want to come to work the next day. This is the biggest cliffhanger the show has had in a very long time, and the first time Rick’s group has ever actually lost. That must have taken a huge toll on his group.
Now sadly, we will have to wait a whole 6-7 months for season 7 to premiere but in that time period, Fear The Walking Dead season 2 will be on until the premiere of season 7 of The Walking Dead, so rest assured, the world has something to do while waiting to find out who was on the receiving end of Lucille.
