The district held its Reflections award ceremony March 21, and two students were honored for their work advancing to state.
Back in October, students began to work on a art project for the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) Reflections competition. The theme this year was Let Your Imagination Fly, and the school had participants advance to district in film, photography, and visual art. Two students advanced from district, to state, with one now competing at the national level.

Sophomore Thanh Nguyen grader took a picture of a dreamcatcher that was inspired by a movie she watched. She then drew her visual art entry from that inspiration.
“I took the picture one time on my phone and it felt right to enter in the competition,” Nguyen said. Thanh did head to Nationals and received a medal for state. “I was really shocked to even make it to Nationals but I’m excited to see the results.”
Sophomore Natalie Garcia grader took an close up picture of a Ukulele.
“It was amazing to have this experience and I felt pretty special, I even got a medal,” Garcia said. Natalie also headed to state.”I went to state and I received a certificate of participation and an overall award of excellence.”
