The second annual DATACON was held Saturday here in the cafeteria. Lots of booths were open with all type of games/programs. The con was open to students of any age who can make games, regardless if they have taken a programming class. The morning was for elementary and middle schoolers while the afternoon was for high schoolers to showcase what they can do. Teams from DATA won first and second place, and Johnson won third.

DATACON helped bring the younger learners and older learners together to interact with one another over technology.
“Basically students really like games, but turns out that students can learn how to program by working on things, such as games or other interests,” DATA teacher Don Davis, an organizer of DATACON, said.
Student helpers got to assist the competition.
“It was cool,” senior Zachary Carson said.
It was an opportunity for students to showcase their talents, and also learn what DATA has to offer.
“We teach students how to program and also give them a platform to showcase what they’ve accomplished, and that’s why we have DATACON,” Davis said. “Students will push for more when they see what other people can do like how a artist is inspired to make more art when they see others’ art.”
