This past weekend on Oct. 10 the cross country team competed in the Incarnate Word college meet.

“Its an honor to compete in a college meet because not many students get to represent our school,” said senior Juan Sanchez, the top varsity boy runner for our school last week.
The runners have been practicing since August and train hard each and every day. Its a really competitive sport that takes a lot of hard work and dedication.
“This season has gone really well for me,because my goal was to get moved to varsity. I worked hard and reached my goal of getting moved up to varsity,” said freshman Fernanda Juarez, the top varsity girl runner for the team.
The cross country teams run a minimum of three miles each day and it helps them keep in shape and be able to pace themselves as they run. Its good practice for when they have a meet the same day or that weekend.
“Cross country is a really competitive sport and I am a main runner and glad to be representing Roosevelt at the district meet this weekend,” said Sanchez.
District begins at 8:30 Saturday at Time Warner Park.
