Today is the last day for students to submit entries for the Fiction Contest of the 2015 San Antonio Book Festival. There is no entry fee. So, Students from middle to high school could still submit their stories until midnight today.
The Fiction Contest is accepting stories with the theme “A chest in the attic…” It must be an original piece of fiction; it also must include name, grade level, school, entry title, and word count. The entries must be 1,500 words or less, 12-point type; double spaced, and must be written in word document.

The top three finalists in each category will be awarded a cash prize and will be featured in a presentation at this year’s San Antonio Book Festival. The first place winners in each category will also win a cash prize and win $500 for their school. Submissions and any questions can be sent to: [email protected].
Saturday, April 11, 2015 will mark the third annual San Antonio Book Festival. The San Antonio Book Festival was first held in April 2013. The beginning of the San Antonio Book Festival was when the San Antonio Book Festival began a partnership with the Texas Book Festival. San Antonio strives to unite “readers and writers in a celebration of ideas, books, libraries and literacy culture,” according to the San Antonio Public Library Foundation.
This is an all-day, free event that is being held downtown San Antonio at Central Library, Southwest School of Art and the Empire Theater, where book lovers of all ages and interests have a chance to get up close to their favorite authors at engaging readings, panel discussions, sales and signings.
The lineup of nearly 90 authors showcase acclaimed national and resignal writers who reflect the best books that American publishers are currently offering, while local talent adds a unique sense of place and reflects South Texas rich cultural heritage.
